Photographing 360 Degree Around With Sony Ciber-Shot
Sony is the first digital camera's manufacturer to incorporate to its Cyber Shot T and W line products the Sweep Panorama System. This system allows for, when the photographer keeps the shutter down while moving the camera from side to side, this takes one hundred high speed pictures and process them internally to save the panorama image resulting from the stitching of them all.
This is a new and simple system, which requires no special accessories but just a Sony Cyber Shot camera and it also requires neither later edition nor extra work at the computer. The panoramas come out of the camera readily done.
Ths system is limited because while the camera moves the pictures it takes to process internally do not meet the condition of keeping the nodal point fixed throught the whole sequence. As we have explained at the cahpter devoted to nodal rotators, this invonvenience only affects panoramas that include elements which are close to the camera, and so, to photogrpahs panoramas with Cyber Shot can be an excellent idea for landscape or travel photographers, but indoor photographers will find it hard to portrait small spaces with a precise finishing.
In general, no matter the movement of the camera can take any way and a hundred pictures taken internally are enough as to easily cover the entire circle around, we believe that the Sony Cyber Shot cameras are better used to obtain partial panoramas rather than to take 360 degree panoramas. It is true that, just like any other camera, a Sony Cyber Shot can be screwed to any nodal rotator to take pictures with surgical precision. In this case, keeping the shutter pressed down during the entire turn becomes an inconvenience rather than an advantage, and its use by this method makes it useless the advantage of the Sweep Panorama systems these cameras work with.
