Photograph 180 Degree Hemispheres In A Single Fisheye Shot
How to capture a complete hemisphere with a single shutter shot and a complete sphere in just two.
Simply attach a fisheye lens or fisheye converter to your camera and take a picture. No matter if it points horizontally, vertically or oblique, the photo obtained is a circle and it shows entirely the hemisphere captured. The fisheye photographs are images of great beauty.
Let's see a vertical example
In the example, a fisheye converter applied to a pocket camera extends the viewing angle of the lens to the 183 degree, so the camera captured even a narrow strip of image behind itself. In the bottom of the photo you can see a black circle with a spirit level, which is part of the tripod where the camera was sustained.
In the same way as the 360 degree panoramas, these partial panoramas can be interactively navigated and published to websites, as follows :
It is worth noting that, compared to other single shot panorama capture systems (parabolic mirrors), it is easier to take clear pictures with fisheye lenses than with mirrors, because regardless of the care taken in cleaning the mirrors, sharpness in a mirror reflected image never seems to match that of an image taken directly through a lens.
