Photograph 360 Degree Around With A Water Tap Over A Glass Sheet
On this page we will see the experimental creation of a panorama using as a 360 degree mirror a plumber's water tap such as those used to give terminations faucets or other plumbing fixtures.
The goal is to photograph a domestic semicircular mirror that appears to have a good reflective quality to the naked eye.
In order to do this we point the camera straight up and above it we position a sheet of glass which holds, as if it was floating in the air, a water tap chrome and clean with its convex side down, ie pointing to the camera. Focusing on this improvised mirror we get a picture like this:

Discarding sky-blue areas in the center and at the edges of the image, the donut-shaped area in the center of the picture is displayed in a rectangular format, as follows :

In this case, since the reflection is not complete but it lacks the bottom
of the sphere, we will not complete the sphere but limit the navigation of the panorama blocking the zenith and nadir. This panorama displayed in interactive mode looks as follows :
In this case, the glass has reflected light, making the panorama which stands above the horizon level to appear doubled below that level, so forcing the image which was not too hight to start with to get even lower. The lines are fairly well defined, without exaggerated deformations. The relflecting quality of the water tap turned out to be reasonable but far from being suitable for a professional use.
The experiment, in short, was interesting but the obtained picture quality is not good enough.
