Combined Images

If you are one of the many photographers who have decided to create 360 degree panoramas with no other help than a common camera that rotates around an axis, as it turns photographing all the line of the horizon, carefully follow the steps from this page and you be converting your images into full panoramas in no time.

No matter what camera you used and the type of lens you have, any sequence of consecutive images partially overlapping can become a panorama. In the example below, with the help of a 50mm lens and making sure that between any two shots there would be enough overlap areas as to prevent editing errors, we covered the whole way around in fourteen shots. The camera is located in normal position, also called landscape's, so that images are wider than they are high and the panorama that we'll get covers about 30 degree in vertical :

To make a comparison, below we see the same scene photographed using a Full Frame Fisheye lens. The camera, in addition, is oriented in a vertical position, also called portrait, which allows the panorama to have a greater vertical travel, close to 120 degree. At the same time, the use of a wider lens allows us to complete all they turn around, with enough space to superimpose the photographs in just six shots.

As seen, the use of special accessories allows you to shoot panoramas with less effort, in less time and with better results, since a panorama would be higher in relation to another. However, all methods are valid and anyone can get excellent results. The process of combining the images is identical.

Visitor's Feedback

Anonimo (zhaoy2@shpt.gov.cn) says :

Better get a DSLR=Digital SIngle Lens Reflex rather than a film camrea (SLR). Canon is most popular on this site. But I would suggest you widen your horizons and take a look at the Pentax Kx camrea. It can use most any lens Pentax has ever made. It has the stabilization built into the camrea rather than priced into the purchase price of every lens.
